I also wanted to share with you my goal of this project, that I am going about this project not from a replication of what was exactly used on screen but rather a replication of what this device really might be, complete with all the details that a real one might have had minus the innards. There are some here who want exactly what was on screen, but there are also those who want something that would have reflected a real item WITHOUT deviating from the original idea. For me, what was used on screen just does not cut it. I am very detail oriented and I demand all the little details to be present on my uniform. Even if no one else knows if anything is missing or out of place, I know it and I know that most of you feel the same way about your uniforms. This is why I have insisted that this device is manufactured a certain way.
Finally, know that this project was not farmed out overseas to China, India or Pakistan, but rather to California where 100% of the product from the packaging to the item itself is made by one person. In no part of this project was there a shortcut taken, either in planning or in material. He has been very gracious by donating his time (in some cases staying at work until 1 or 2 in the morning designing or prototyping) and materials in the hopes that I can kick off the TWOK uniform project. These devices are made from high-grade metals used in aircraft engines coated with a special ceramic (not some paint or oxide) that is made to take abuse in jet engines. He expressed to me that he would not have done this for anyone who walked off the street because of the costs and time involved. I specifically want to thank him for this and I felt that I should make known how much dedication he has placed on this project for asking almost nothing in return other than to see happy and satisfied enthusiasts.
I think, in fact, I know that most of you will be impressed with the final product when you see it and to know that only one person had his hand in their manufacturing.
I hope to have something soon, hopefully this week! YAY!
