That is great news mkesomenoise; not just for you but for the rest of us who are still waiting.

I received the only item they updated their gallery online with- a
very small pin from Star Wars. With only a 1.25" width, you can see how detailed it is. I said it was stunning. That is a very positive thing. I also
relayed on the information that said they are starting to make items now for the rest of those still waiting. I had to wait for a long time with them having
hard circumstances which I sympathize with. I'm not seeing what is unfair. I posted positive news within minutes of receiving it to counteract the
complaint I waited 10 months to post. I'm very happy with it. I have no hard feelings at all towards Shadow Dale and wish them the best.

I repeat again, this is great news, and regardless of what type of item it is, pin or costume, the fact that the customer received the item and is satisfied is
very encouraging for those of us who are hoping to receive our items soon. Thanks mkesomenoise for the review and for bringing us the news that SDC is working
hard to get our items to us.
Better late than never.

Despite what might be out there....I have never seen any evidence that Shadowdale has done anything but try to make customers happy. I know there are issues
of course, since all this is custom made. Heck, if they just sold small, medium, and large no one could gripe. But, in every instance with myself, they have
happily taken work and done tweaks.
I just recieved from the folks an NX Away jacket, that is just awesome! |

It is nice to hear that certain people are getting their items, and are pleased. Too bad I sent mine back for repairs and they say they never recieved it... of
course they never told me they never recieved it.... only after I complained again that it was MIA with no communication from them did I get the reply that
"we never recieved it.. tough luck".
Peter, what I recieved (when I actually had something to show for my $$$$) it was not something that would make anyone happy.... so I'm glad that you are constantly making the assertion that since you are happy everyone should be happy (you must be republican), but it simply is not the case. Waiting almost one year, and recieving an item that was not good at all is not trying to make people happy. Then you return the item for repairs and it magicaaly never made it back.... and they never even tell you that the still haven't gotten it.... doesn't sound like making people happy. I have posted reviews of what I got, and how I felt about it (the good and the bad) and at this point it was basically like I paid $$$$ to get slapped in the face and told to shove off... that does not make me, or anyone happy... |

garver76 wrote:That condescending attitude is not warranted or needed. Dont tell me what I am or am not. Sure you sent the stuff back. Last I heard the folks could recover tracking and you failed to provide numbers. And your telling me that you sent a uniform back that cost $1k and you werent smart enough to check in with the folks after 3 or 4 days to make sure it got there? Or that you didnt put signature confirmation? |

Actually I did send the tracking info.. and it did get a signature.... Just because I did not continue to post that info in a public forum does not mean in was
not done... the tone you have is the one that is unwarranted... every time a person has a legitimate grievance you come in and tell them that SDC is a great
place that goes out of their way to make people happy... I'm hear, with a few other to tell you they do not.
Every frakkin time you post that you are happy, and have senn little or no evidence to prove that there is a problem you are the one telling people they are wrong. Yes, there was Tracking, yes it was signed for, no I did not call SDC after they signed for the package to double check, no I do not need you telling me I am wrong... SDC has made it very clear in the past theyu like to deal with things off the public forum... and there is a reason behind that.... Your attitude is the reason we have these issues... you make statements diminishing valid complaints every time one is made.... A person actually posted a positive review here and you bashed them telling them to be fair..... SDC posted pictures of my uniform (and even admitted it was not very good) and you said it was perfect.. no problem (that thread was since deleted because you guys decided my opinion about my item did not matter). Plain and simple, the tracking information was recovered, and it was signed for. The fact you are now calling me a Liar further proves that you have a superioriority complex and think you are the only person who is correct or the only person who matters. The disappearing return routine with these costumers is nothing new.... they claim this all the time so they don't have to bother with the thing... too bad this time I did get delivery onfirmation, and return receipt as well... and insurance... I am sorry I didn't realize I had to keep you updated on every development or personal communication with SDC... That does not change the fact I was not and am not happy with their service... just because you are friends with them does not give you the right to tell everyone to forget about their issues just because yours was solved. They obviously do not try to make things right with everyone. They still offer the same 12 week return estimate when they KNOW they cannot deliver in that time frame.

(that thread was since deleted because you guys decided my opinion about my item did not matter) First off...lets just say the "YOU GUYS" remark was uncalled for...We make decisions...When you get rude the topic will be deleted or edited..We could have just banned you like the Steve Thomas 1701st for being insubordinate but we dont do that here.....Again...your not happy with SDC..we got that..Peter has had good experiences with SDC...Why are you so quick to publicly post the negative???..AND, why is it that every time someone posts something positive you have a rebuttal ???.. Relax buddy..you have your grievances with them but don't knock the people that have had good experiences with them.. It's just plain RUDE....Funny how you don't have any problem posting publicly all the negative stuff but refuse to post all the details of the transaction like tracking numbers, signed receipts etc....Proof is in the pudding Fact is..Peter was happy with his order..there was NO reason to be rude and disruptive to him in anyway for praising his order. Every frakkin time you post that you are happy, and have senn little or no evidence to prove that there is a problem you are the one telling people they are wrong. You obviously know NOTHING about sewing..It's a hard business....As for evidence...prove it yourself..Back up everything you say...You have NO PROBLEM posting publicly your grievances but don't ever provide any solid evidence..just bitchy attitude Garver...I am not defending Peter or SDC...It is your right to complain..but dude don't knock the people that have had positive experiences with them..AND I interpreted Peters comment about mkesomenoise SW pin that he wanted more positive response.... Heres the deal..I've held a TWOK...yes a TWOK uniform..Not the replicated screen used you have from the TV shows...I didn't have to mortgage my house or max out my credit card or anything..What SDC created for you(based on your comparison) is what they had to go on..Available patterns and shotty directions..I feel judging by your pictures they followed the direction spot on...It's a little hard considering the replica of the TWOK is close to the original give or take here and there..Yes there were problems...I spotted them...Your photos were great...But remember..They based it of the pattern available....AND the pattern does not include the belt loops |

Tony, since you have seen my comparison pics you know that I have a TWOK uniform, yes a real screen used uniform... I based my comparison pics on it. I did my
best to post an objective view of the items I recieved. I even mentioned the good points to what I got and the bad points.
I do understand that the available pattern sucks. I also have made a TWOK jacket from that available pattern, and it turned out 40 times better than what I ordered. I ordered from SDC because they said they are professionals, and that they make screen accurate product. I do not have the proper type fabric available... SDC said they did, so I figured I'd save myself the many hours needed to sew the thing together and order from them. I do know something about sewing. I do understand how difficult it is. However, poor patterns and poor directions do not account for poor construction technique. There was not a single seam pressed on the item I recieved. One of the more important notes on making any sewn garment is to press the seams when you make it... show me a garment pattern where it does not tell you to press seams. The "you guys" comment was to the individual who deleted the whole thread. I started the thread off with the facts, and the buddy syndrome kicked in and people started telling me I was wrong, that the item had to be great and I had to be wrong. Call me a liar and yes I get mad. I put years of my life into protecting our country only to be told that I need to not complain.... nope, not gonna happen, and yes it makes me pretty dang mad.... I will get rude whn that type thing comes up. Again, everyone can read what they want into this.... I don't care anymore, yes, I will continue to post the facts of my problem with SDC...... they owe plenty of people money, and owe plenty of people costumes. The fact they continue to sell costumes while they know they cannot fullfil the orders is amazing... and the fact that some people continue to support them is amazing. Again, I have seen more compaints than happy customers. Problem is that most of this forum is friends with the costumers, and wil lside with them.. .even though they have seen the pictures of what I got. I'd be happy to post pics of what I made, wrong fabrics and all, just because if I can make the jacket and it looks good (even though the fabric was 3.99 a yard) certainly a professional should be able to. Yes, I am quick to post my negative response... when anyone spends $$$$ on any item, and it is basically junk, you are going to be happy? Lets say you buy a TV at Best Buy for $$$$, take it home, open the box and inside is a 13" instead of the 52" you were expecting... you take it back, and they tell you you never returned anything.. and you are now out of luck, because they can't find the item you returned.... you are going to go home and say "wow, best buy sure is a swell store"? Nope, you too will complain and warn people not to go to best buy. Peter, sorry if I made you mad At this point we will just have to agree to disagree :P

I don't believe this is too much to ask for but it would be nice to hear something from MGM or the Duchess on this matter. I would expect at least a message acknowledging that they do receive our e-mails and are still making every effort to get our costumes to us despite the Duchess poor health.

I just wanted to update everyone that I received a package from SDC with my horn in it today. Even though I wanted a refund, and seeing the horn will always
be a reminder of the ordeal it took to get it, they really do some incredible work. That doesn't excuse them from their terrible business practices, but I
just wanted to let everyone know that I finally have something for the money I sent them back in March 2007.

I was thinking a Wrath of Khan Uniform from Shadow Dale Creations, and was wondering how their costumes are and should I get a costume from Shadow Dale
Creations? I'm going to the Las Vegas Convention this year and was wondering how long does it usually take to get a costume from them?

Thank You for the information on Shadow Dale, because I was thinking of buying an Admiral Costume from them but I only have about a month until I leave for the
Convention in Las Vegas so... Do you know of anywhere else that sells good Star Trek Admiral Uniform Costumes?

Still Waiting on Shadow Dale Costume After I Was Told It Was Shipping | #40 | ||
|
I hate to add to the pile-up of negative remarks about Shadow Dale Creations, but I too am displeased with their service. I am a Master Costumer, and I have
won top prizes at Worldcon and Costume Con for my costumes that I design and make. My most memorable costume was a reproduction I did of Robby the Robot from
"Forbidden Planet" that won Best Recreation at the Worldcon in Atlanta in 1986. Earlier this year, I took a new job that is very demanding on my
time, and I don't have as much time to devote to making costumes any more. I have several Trek uniforms that I have made from the Original Series, from
TWOK, and TNG. But what I really wanted was a jumpsuit from "Star Trek: Nemesis." In February, I contracted Steve at SDC to make one for me for
$300+. I asked him to deliver the costume for my first con of the season in May. He told me that would not be a problem. Well, it's almost July 4 - and
I have a parade that I will be marching in on July 4 - and still no costume. He even emailed me in early May to say that the costume was done and would be
shipping in a couple of weeks. After reading your posts on here, I now feel as if I was a deer caught in the headlights, considering that some of you have
been waiting over a year for your costumes to be delivered. Now, I don't feel as bad because I've not waited as long as some of you, but at the same
time I did pay good money to have a job done, and I've not been given a legitimate reason why that job is not done. Particularly after I was told it was
done and was shipping. I realize that SDC is a sponsor contributor to this site...and I'll likely receive a crappy costume now that I've bothered to
voice a complaint...or worse be censored because I said anything at all. But at some point we all must say enough is enough. If Steve doesn't have the
crew to produce these items or is short on fabric to produce these items, then he needs to close his store and refund our monies. OR hire more people and step
up production to meet the demands of his customers. I owned a business - Galactic Enterprises - between 1980 and 1987 that was a fan-oriented business, and I
would have been out of business if I did not fulfill the orders of my customers. The reason I sold the business in 1987 was that I was overwhelmed with trying
to keep up. Must we put the word out to our fan friends that SDC does not honor its obligations? Perhaps if SDC only received a 10% advance on each order the
business would work faster to earn the rest of those funds. Fortunately, I purchased my costume by Paypal. Paypal will refund payments to us if business
owners fail to meet their obligations. Perhaps it is now time for all of us who paid with Paypal to demand refunds? Maybe that would be the incentive that
SDC needs to catch up on its orders. I am very tempted...because honestly I am tired of the runaround...
