I got some great photos of a male Perscan bought at auction by a collector. Front and back. I'm planning on producing copies to sell some time in the near future.

Hi Ceti!
I actually started making some of these for my friends and I several years ago for Creation's Grand Slam. Unfortunately, the project was a lot more work than I allowed time for!! I can take some pics of the shoe/pants that I had started working on, if you're interested? I was very happy with the way they were developing.... I too would still love to make these uniforms! Yes, yes, I know they pale in comparison to the WOK uniforms....but it was this movie that got me into Trek so there will always be a fondness for them! A few years ago Jo-Ann's fabrics had a wool twill and labeled as Loden Green!!! I almost died on the spot!! Needless to say I bought the entire bolt for my Admiral uniform. |

Oh my yes I am interested. That's the movie that got me hooked at 7 years old. While the WOK uniforms are praised for being mor militaristic,I think that's the complete opposite of what the exploratory nature of Starfleet represents.1979 was the last year of "good times" before Reagan brought about major economic changes as well as how we as a nation viewed relaxation.TMP uniforms reflect a more"groovy" and relaxed space exploration.NOT WAR.But then I'm just silly. Thanks a bunch.

I agree with you! I know most people call it the "motion-less" picture....However, it was such a contrast to Star Wars at the time. When the ship enters V'Ger I was just in awe - what was it? Where were we going?
Not to get too far off track, but I didn't care for the "Director's Edition" DVD. I wish Paramount would release the theatrical movie as it was first released on DVD. I will pull out my TMP costume box and get some pics for you all! Tony - I will send you a swatch of the loden green fabric I found too! |

Quote: Gah! So you liked the extra half hour of just looking at the ship? You know the "original" dvd release wasn't the original theatrical release, right? I just find the extension pointless and it serves to bog down the pace. Robert Wise's edition was vastly superior, I thought. |

My bad, I just re-read your post and I think I internally misread it.
Now I think you actually were calling for the theatrical release on dvd, which I'd be fine with. Of the 3 versions of the movie, the one created for home video in the early 80's is my least favorite. I'm fine with either of the other two because they don't have the sleep inducing sequences with Enterprise. |

Sorry if my wording was a bit....confusing. LOL! I tend to think faster than I type and sometimes it comes out worded incorrectly or in Yoda-ese.
What I meant, and I think you interpreted correctly, is that I would like a DVD of the movie that was shown in the theatres in 1979! Just like Lucas did with releasing the SW movies as they were shown back in '77. And I really hate the revised "RED ALERT" claxon....I liked the original version in the movie. But that's just me.... Oh, Tony, you are so funny! NOT! |

Okay,Okay! So there are only two people in the known Universe who like STTMP.Maybe my judgement is off as it is the first movie I remember seeing. It is what it is.Do you do everything right with your first kid?You try to but eventually they have something different to say about it.Is it as nitty gritty as WOK?Not in a million years ,is it as silly asThe Voyage Home? not by a long shot.To me TMP is a good entertaining film that has a very comforting feel to it.Kind of like an old binky.I did not like the extended TV version with the scaffolding but extra shots of the new Enterprise Ooo gimme gimme.I could look at my old Ertl/AMT model for hours and it doesn't even light up anymore. On the uniform topic though I might be able to draw up a pattern using an old STTMP MEGO dolls outfit(no I'm not going to butcher anything but it would serve as a good reference.Still don't know what kind of material.Any help.Peace J

Ceti, will you be my new best friend?
It's great to find a fellow TMP fan! And I laughed at your comparison to one's old "blinky"! The original two piece uniforms are made of a light-weight wool gabardine. I had a great opportunity to examine one about a year ago - even got to take some pics! Although I am presently working on four WOK uniforms for myself and friends, I would love to collaborate with you on making some TMP uniforms! Let's talk! |

Umm... No, I can't. You haven't given me Admin priveleges yet. A Mod can't do that.
