Posts: 6 Jul 25 07 9:26 AM	Tags : None It's hard to get a good look . . . are the men's boots for TOS knee high like the women's or ankle high? If knee high, how hard will people laugh if I use ankle high 'cause that's what we have. Probably be obvious with the shorter uniform pants.

Posts: 467 Jul 26 07 11:56 AM	Funny....I was thinking about this last night...There has been a lot of controversy over the boots...Cuban heel, flat heel... So I reviewed much of the third season..and trust me I had the time...(not by choice)..BUT.. the main characters jumped between Cuban and flat heels in every episode.."All Our Yesterdays" is a good example..Kirks heels are Cuban heels in this episode, but Spock's and McCoy's are flat..And in certain scenes Kirk's boots are flat... Posts: 162 Jul 26 07 6:38 PM	Shatner went back and forth but the rest of the (male) cast DID wear the flat heels. Also,some of the female boots were knee high(past the calf) or pretty close to the knee. The flat heel was worn starting in the second season on "Doomsday Machine" if I'm mistakin. I'll check.

Posts: 162 Jul 29 07 10:38 PM	Shatner didn't really wear a cuban heels in the 3rd season just thick or stacked heels in some episodes. Check out "Spock's Brain and "All Our Yesterdays" for example.

This is THE most difficult aspect of the TOS boots to replicate; I've never seen any repro offerings that are properly fitted in the ankle/calf area, or have that thin leather to wrap tightly when zipped. When Adam29 offered boots a couple of years ago (from who he claimed was the original maker), the photos he showed appeared nice and snug. Anyone get a pair of those? The quest goes on! -Bret

Posts: 2 Oct 24 07 10:14 AM	I agree with Bret that the Cuban heel look is the most difficult aspect of the boots to replicate--as well as the extremely form fitting cling to the calf. But I'd also point out that none of the repros I've seen have a pointy toe. This, too, is extremely important. Without it, the result looks clunky and unstreamlined. Tom

They're fine, but at some point when I have the scratch I may just swallow hard and ask Willie Rivera--I think that was the name--who made the originals, to come up with a pair for me.

Posts: 162 Nov 11 07 9:44 PM	I stand corrected! The flat heels made there 1st appearance in Amok Time. Look especially AFTER Spock "kills" Kirk,when McCoy approches him. You can see both McCoy's and Spock's boots. McCoy's more so. Amok Time was produced before "Doomsday".
