Some look so real and others look like they were molded in Play-do.
All based on how far from the camera they will be.

Well I am going with that braid stuff as suggested earlier (The stuff made by Wrights). It is pretty wide so I will have to cut it to make it work. I think this is as close as I can get to the original and still look good.

Braid and such | #45 | ||
|
I had a chance to inspect some stuff from ItsAWrap who was at the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas.
First I looked at the shoulder strap for the TWOK style uniforms. It seems the material is about 1cm wide and its gold in color, but has a dull finish. Its nothing like that braid that I bought and I am wondering what material this is? Then I looked at some arm bands. Each band had what appeared to be gold lame' which went around the side and underneath (one piece) to the other side. It was on top of some black fabric. So bottom line: what is the fabric for the shoulder strap that is as close to the original as possible? |

Hey there Juise
It seems to be a trim sewn right on top of the strap on the TWOK Officer Uniform Reference guide on this board they got some good close up on the strap here are two... TWOK Reference 1 TWOK Reference 2 Not sure what kind it is the one I have on mine has more of a shine to it but there has to be that type around. Hope this somewhat helps lol Brian Live long and Wear more costumes!

Well this stuff is really dull. If anyone knows what it is, that would be great. I know the gold lame type stuff goes around the side and the back of the arm band.

Guys, I just discovered this thread and I know this comes late, but the initial discussion had to do with the material used for the tunic/undershirts. The
light-weight spandex was something they went to later on (for the principals, earlier for background). The original material was a fabric called rayon jersey.
It comes (came?) in white which could then be dyed to department color. It's been years since I bought mine so I don't know if it's still
available (I'm not sure if the switch to spandex was due to budget or availability), but I got it at International Silks and Woolens which is where Bob
said they purchased it for the productions. It's a pretty neat fabric; it gives like spandex but has more weight and 'cling.' It also breathes
better...which is a blessing when you have that lined elastique jacket on!

Anyone know what type of green colour is used for the medical and what type of grey colour is used for the science tunics? Do they have name or just a colour number? |

I have original medical straps / shoulder tabs as well as plenty of original grey sciences straps / bits... (I have original pieces from every department) the
shades can vary quite a bit depending on what type fabric was dyed...
I do not know the dye formulae and do not have a color chart to match the numbers... if someone wants to send me a color book I can match every department color and post it BG |
