MGM,Now I do fell like a heel.I've just heard it called so many things and the memory is not quite what it was,but thanks for the clarification.I will no longer refer to it as a Bio Monitor.Unless that is a legit synonym.I actually have two of those. One is from 1979 it's actually a toy made by South Bend toys that I've had since new, and another I carved out of balsa wood and coated with tinted fibreglass then I just painted the silver details which are based on the toy so I'm sure their not exactly right but for 1983 it looked pretty cool.I'll have to hunt in my Dad's attic for it.With all the new foams and resin coatings as well as a good picture I'm sure I could make and reproduce several. That's what I'm good at sewing not so much.I also carved a TMP/WOK phaser out of wood once again 1983.I was 10 what do you want.Any how thanks for your help and advice I look forward to any of your TMP offerings in the future(or past.I can never keep the two straight)And thank you Tony for posting those pics for all to see.Peace J

Amongst many fan circles, the Perscan is affectionately referred to as the "belly-warmer."

This may have been mentioned before, but there was a book for Star Trek TMP make your own costumes for kids. I just ordered an old copy of it. Once I get it,
I'll post some caps.

I didn't like the first Star Trek movie at all, when it came out. Then I grew up, and now it's one of my favorites. I also don't care for the
"director's cut" dvd -- it has one improvement, the exterior shot of the second V'ger plasma torpedo evaporating before it hits the
Enterprise. All the other changes were unnecessary at best, and the new red alert klaxon is just wimpy.
Costume-wise, I kind of have to agree with the director of the second movie, who said he didn't want a bunch of grey people on a grey ship. But these outfits had an understated elegance rarely seen in science-fiction costuming. I'm not likely to re-create one, but I've thought about doing one in bolder colors. I have a copy of the ST:TMP costume book! It's completely for kids. It won't help you make anything like an accurate costume, but it's fun, and shows that a great deal of costuming enjoyment is possible with very little skill and effort -- if you don't get too hung up on details. |

I orderd a TOS shirt from an ebay seller called murraymouse. I also made enquiries about her TMP uniforms, she sent me these pics

The all-grey Class A looks decent! The only nitpik I would have is that the hems should be done by hand, not machine stitched.
Unfortunately, the Admiral's uniform is incorrect with the color - it should be loden green (a gray green color). Most fans seem to think it's gray...and the fact that the action figures show it as grey doesn't help! LOL I remember seeing a pic of two guys - one as Kirk and one as Spock - wearing these uniforms....I wonder if this is where they purchased them?? |

Did you get the uniform yet, Viper1?
What is your impression of murrymousie's work? Anyone else with TMP uniforms? |

The admiral's dress uniform is probably the only one I like from that movie. It makes a slight cameo in the new Star Trek!

I about shouted in the theater, "Hey! That's the same costume design from THE MOTION PICTURE!" And I thought it looked great. (And as you said in another thread, thank goodness they did away with the built-in boots.) The admiral's dress uniform is my favorite uniform from TMP. But the best 'costume' is hands-down the engineering hazard suits. |

I agree. I was almost hoping to see those in the new movie, but there was only fleeting shots of engineering (Scotty was probably too busy downing some cold
ones at the Enterprise's new built-in brewery).
